You don't. When you are a Tycoon, click on your picture down at then bottom right. Then look above your weevil, and you will see a black tycoon hat. Click on it, then a blue box will come up. Click on your hat again, then it will show you a choice of colours for your hat. Pick the one you like the best. Then just shut your weevil down, and you will see you hat.
To get it off, click on your weevil picture again, and click on the hat again. Then click on the hat again, then when you see the colours, click on your hat in the blue box. You will see a cross. And that is how to get your Tycoon hat on and off.
