For example:

Specific means the narrowest meaning you can find; general means the broadest. If you go from specific to general you go from narrow to broad.

For example, this paragraph is in a very specific category, the "Paragraph Development" category. Moving from that specific to a more general view, you notice that Paragraph Development is part of Writing and Composition, which is part of English Language, which is part of the most general category of Literature and Language.
