Hi there a knife should be handle with the highest of care. The knife should always be held from the handle for extra grip and safety. Always point the knife at the floor in case you trip or slip if pointing up you could stab yourself. Always curve your fingers on the hand not holding the knife so that the knife rides against your knuckles to prevent cutting yourself while guiding the food being cut. Also, keep your knives sharpened. Dull knives cause you to push too hard and make it more likely that you'll have an accident.
