First you make sure you understand the vision, which is usually to build up the Body of Christ and to spread the Gospel through the world.

Then you ask the pastor what jobs need doing in his church. Do they need teachers? Counsellors? Administrators? Evangelists? Community social workers?

Of the jobs, you decide which one is suited to your abilities, and then you do it.

For example, suppose you notice that the children are becoming naughty in the church service. You know they are only naughty because they are bored. So you take the children to another room and put on your song-dance-and-juggling routine. Now the children are happy, so they are behaving well. However, they are not learning very much about God. So you call in the person who is a first-class storyteller, and she tells them Bible stories. Now you have a Sunday school. Other families with young children see that your church has a good Sunday school, so they start coming to your church. They hear the Gospel, and their lives are transformed.

What you don't do is worry about "saving the whole church". God didn't call you to do that. The person who holds that vision - of knowing exactly what needs doing to get the church moving - is the pastor.

What is a role of a co-pastor?

Well it all depends on the situation. For example if the main pastor of the church is sick many time's the co-pastor of the church will preach the sermon. And some times the co-pastor if some one needs help say like there is some one who needs prayer and the main preacher is in the middle of the sermon a co-pastor may ask if he or she can help pray in some way or say the main pastor is already helping some one pray the co-pastor can also help another person that is need or a prayer partner.

What are the duties of the pastors aides?

Although the pastor of a church sets the spiritual vision and leads the church he is answerable to the board. Like any corporation the board members are elected in annual business meetings by the congregation to serve a set period of time. Their primarily duties are to oversee the finances and make sure the church organization continues to run smoothly. They determine the pay rates of the church staff and what project are to be funded as well as help to run things when the pastor is away.

How many years should a pastor have to have his own church?

In most mainstream denominations the congregation "owns" the church not the pastor. Some churches are created by one person who would "own" it, but in most cases the church is not owned by the pastor. I would be weary of a church where the pastor owns it. The when the denomination or congregation owns the church it provides checks and balances to avoid corruption and megalomania by a pastor or sole person running the church. If a person is a secondary worship leader and desires to be a senior pastor, then since most churches seeking a pastor have a "pulpit committee" that would help vet the candidates you would need to seek out churches that need a pastor and talk to the committee that is charges with finding the pastor. Each church has it's own set of requirements. My husband got out of seminary and got a church right away as a senior pastor and we have been at this one and only church for 22 years. Every congregation is unique and you will just have to contact each one like any other job you seek to have with resumes, recommendations etc.
