Offer a finger or your hand and let it step on. Once you get to know each other you should be able to handle it any way you want. Depending on the birds personality, you can go under it and just pick it up, roll it on it's back or anything else that doesn't hurt or scare it. It's all a matter of trust. It take time to build trust in a bird and being consistent in how you approach and handle it will establish that.
