Well if you have it for the 360 which is what I have you plug in the microphone and turn on one of your regular controllers so really the only thing you need the mic for is singing and you use the controller for when you need the choose a difficulty, make a character, start a tour, ect.
The Rock Band plug that goes straight into the Xbox cannot be connected to the computer, but most Rock Band microphones I know of use a USB extension to connect to things like the Wii. You can just plug the USB microphones directly into the computer. The driver will automatically download.
either through the usb hook up or your controller
To find this, you're going to need scientific equipment. You will need an oscillator and a microphone, as well as the rubber band. Hook the microphone up to the oscillator and snap the rubber band. View the oscillator to find it's frequency.
Just hook up the microphone's plug into the the back of the Wii and on the World Tour game select vocals. You have to have a separate Wii remote for each instrument... It's annoying because this information isn't written in the instructions. The microphone plugs into the USB port at the top of the back of the console. The unfortunate part is that you need a controller to assign the microphone. That means if you only have 2 controllers, you can only use 2 of the instruments. I sort of see why (so you can assign the characters, etc.), but that shouldn't have been a limitation to use the microphone. You can get any wired microphone like the one from rock band and plug it in in the back of the wii and rock on nub!!!

only in the xbox 360 version so far. pt in rock band 1. hook up to xbox live, and download new update if necessary. go into game menu, and select export songs. takes about 20 minutes to put songs on your hard drive. then put in rb2, and you're ready to go.
you can get a wire to put at the end of your microphone nd the in to your laptop
