there can be two ways depending on the year it is either on the back by where the transnission bolts up or there is a spot on the front by the alternator but that will normally tell you if it is a truck block or car block and the place it was manufatured.

id take the rocket my self it has a little more power than the Chevy 350
The engine id is on a pad on the block located in front of the passenger side head.
Id say about 300-350 also depends on sights fix= less then nights.
You might be able to trace the id # (just in front of #2 cylinder) at mortec.com
id ask 200-400 depending on condition but prolly 300$$
I would venture to guess about 230
well first off the 350 is a small block so look at the exaust ports and if they are seimeze its a smallie, and if the ports are spaced evenly apart its a biggie for chevys anyways. there would be stampings the block. hope this helps
there should be a numbered stamped on the rear of the engine
