To identify the brake system on a 1998 Chevrolet Silverado, first check the owner's manual for specifications regarding the braking system. You can also visually inspect the brake components: look for the type of brake calipers (disc or drum) on the front and rear wheels. Additionally, the vehicle’s VIN can be used to obtain detailed information about the original equipment. Finally, you may find identification tags or markings on the master cylinder and brake booster that indicate the brake system type.
