take out the glove box there is a metal strip the filler is behind it.
look inside the glove box and you should see a couple of screws that hold it in place along with the front door of the glove box has to come off and it should come out from behind the dash.
Get at it through the glove box
Remove glove compartment by removing screws on each side. The really weird part is that you need to cut and disregard the metal bracket that is behind the glove box to get at the filter. Replace the box. Removing the bracket has no effect.
Open the glove box, unscrew the three screws next to the lock, tap lightly and it will come out.
Resistor is located behind glove box. Remove 2 screw at bottom of glove box which attach hinges. Glove box comes right out. The resistor will be directly behind glove box. It will have a plug and 2 screws which hold it in place. Remove plug unscrew and pull out. Install in reverse order.
Cabin Air FilterIf it has one it will be behind the glove box .Open the glove box push in on the sides and the glove box will come out the bottom hinge will hold it on behind that. There will be a plastic cover with 4 plastic tabs push them in pull the cover off and there is your CAF.
some of them had a glove box light inside the glove box.
In a 2003 Mazda 6, open the glove box, squeeze the sides gently and remove ithe box. The cabin air filter is directly behind where the glove box lives. It is a simple matter to unlatch the door and pull the old filter out. Reverse your steps to install the new filter and glove box. It helps to empty the glove box first so you don't spill anything. there is no glove box on a 1994, I have a 1991 and it does have a glove box
