how to set the timing marks on a 1995 Mitsubishi Montero

If it's the same 3.0L engine they put in the 2001 Montero Sport, the alternator is (looking from the front of the engine into the bay) located on the left side of the motor, toward the radiator, down low. It's straight below the power steering pump. There should be a belt that runs from the crankshaft to the alternator. Good luck... I'm on my third in 3 months.
mostly likely when you got the overcharging a fuse or relay was blown. need to locate and replace fuse most likely but possibly a relay.
95 montero takes 6 plugs
Piece of Cake!! remove serpentine belt (search here for answer how to), remove the lower of 2 bolts from the alternator, loosen the upper, rotate the alternator up, remove the bolt. Install is the reverse.
The thermostat on a 1995 Mitsubishi Montero can be found by following the radiator hose. It is near where the hose enters the engine.
Modern alternators almost always have their voltage regulator attached to the back of the alternator itself. Most often it is combined with the brush holder so you could say it's "built in", however that is not strictly true as it is removable without dissasembly of the entire alternator. Unless I am mistaken the Montero alternator is of this design. You should NOT expect to find an external voltage regulator anywhere on one of these vehicles. Hope this helped.
