my northstar pool pump is making noise.I think it might need new bearings. How do I take the motor off./
No all pool motors have sealed bearings
Take the motor in to a professionl pool service company or motor rewind shop.
Teach it the words! LOL. Filters don't normally hum. You may be talking about your pumps motor. If that is humming then either the bearings are bad or the start/run windings are going bad. Take it to a motor shop or buy a new motor.
Running a pump dry will not damage the motor bearings at all. It is the pump seal that gets damaged. Some of the more modern pumps have enough water in them to allow the pump to run dry for quite a long time before seal damage occurs. It is the heat build up from the friction on the seal that causes failure. If you have run your pump dry and see any leakage at all, replace the seal immediately. The leaking water may "crawl" up the motor shaft and that is what will damage the motor bearings.
Pool motor is overheating and or a short in the motor. You need a professional pool tech to troubleshoot.
Install a tarp to cover pool construction area. Install small sump pump at bottom of pool area
Pool with a vinyl liner.
To install the water return fitting above the ground pool, you have to switch off the source. After this you can then install the water.
Some companies, such as www.poolfencesoutheast.com, sell and install mesh pool fences. Others such as www.diypoolfence.com sell mesh pool fences that you install yourself.
Do you have a pool light niche already installed in the pool? If not, you need a pool builder to do the job to code.
Hayward Northstar is probably the best and most energy efficient. Hayward Super 2 is also a great pump and less expensive than the Northstar. Sta-Rite Dura Glass is an industry standard and very dependable.
The front bearing is going bad possibly from a pump seal leak or just age. Cheaper to replace the motor than to replace bearings. New motor will have a 1 yr warr.
