There is a spring "wheel" pressing against the belt, preventing it from falling off. On most years/models, a wratchet (only the tool w/o a socket) fits into the tensioner that you pull slightly to remove tension. Use your other hand to pull the belt off-BUT- draw a rough diagram on how the belt goes prior to removal.
