remove the stock intake system, should just be a couple bolts. it comes completely off the throttle body. attach new intake system, should just have to tight the metal ring, and u maye have to bolt down depending on intake system, very easy. dont u have instructions?
Install a AEM air intake.
no, you only have one intake therefore you can only modify it one way. the short ram intake will most likely be a shorter edition of the cold air intake.
The AEM Cold Air Intakes work really well and gain real power that you can feel. If you click the link you can find one for your Mitsubishi Lancer. Cheers, GPI Performance
Depends on your uses. For performance the Cold air intake is way better but if you are on a budget then the short ram is not bad.
Well that is really an opinion question. Either the Injen Cold Air Intake or a Short Ram Intake. i forget what the difference is between the two. i know one gives more tq and the other more hp. but you will have to research that. I have an 08 Lancer with the Injen CAI, and i personally love it. But then again i believe it is an opinion question.
A person may install a Dodge Ram Cold Air Intake device on their vehicle in order to improve vehicle performance. They provide better acceleration and fuel use.
Ram air intake aka, short ram intakes are good for low end horsepower and torque Cold air intakes have more horsepower gaines then short ram and more top end power. If your looking for more torque then horsepower, meaning more acceleration but dont care about topping out your car, then short ram intake is what you want. If you already have enough torque and just want more horsepower and go fast as possible, then cold air intake is what you want.
Like 450+ HP if u install it right.use the right super glue and duck tape and you can easily push 450-520 extra horsepower :)
Won't hurt but you may notice a slight bog during take-off in colder temperatures. yep wont hurt, is it a full intake or short ram?? i would recommend a AEM short ram i got mine for 90 bucks plus a K&N filter for 30.... in certain terms it's actually better for your car.
is it a short ram or full intake? both are pretty easy. For both u need to obviously remove the original intake. Now for short ram u need to take your intake pipe and attach it to your throttle body, and air sensor hoses to proper holes on the intake pipe. As for the full intake it should be the same thing except u have to take apart your wheel well... So take off tire, plastic lining, and then u can add the last piece of the intake and the filter, then reassemble the plastic lining and put the tire back on. Basic hand tools are the only thing needed for this job.
If there are a lot of deep puddles or it floods a lot, get a short ram intake since you can not use your cold air intake in those conditions (even with a air bypass valve). Alternately, you can get a K&N Typhoon intake that can convert between cold air and short ram lengths. If flooding is never a concern, or you don't mind constantly switching back and forth to get the most power in ideal conditions, then get a cold air.
all depends on the cold air kit you have chosen but if you go to the web site of the manufactuer there is usually a pdf file you can download and get the complete install walk through
