I had a 1990 nissan maxima that use to do that and the problem was my rack and pinion bushings were bad
I had sway bar links replaced on my 2003 Ford Escape. Cost- $220 w/ labor. The parts are pretty cheap of course and easy to install; it's the "book" labor that jacks up the price.
remove the attaching nuts, and with a ball joint removal tool, remove old link. Then install new link, and torque new nuts to specs.
How do you install a rear sway bar on a 2003 f 150 4 wheel drive
go figure it out or get a life
This is a well-known problem with this generation Pathfinders... the rear upper and lower control arm bushings are worn. Have them replaced and the sway should disappear.

You need to install sway control when you are hauling. this will solve your problems.
When the sway bar try's to do it's job without the bushings then it will come in contact with the body of the car and will be an confortable ride that could causes more problems in the future.
1. Jack up the rear of the car and put it on stands. 2. Remove the bolts and hardware from the ends of the sway bar. 3. Unbolt the sway bar brackets from the crossmember and take the sway bar out. 4. Install the new sway bar tightening the bracket bolts tightly. 5. Tighten the end nuts and bolts so that 2/3 of the threads are exposed. 6. The rest of the installation is the reverse of taking them out.
