To install a thermostat:
The engine should be cool.
1. Put down an appropriate pan to catch leaking coolant.
2. Follow the upper radiator hose to the water outlet. That is usually where the thermostat is.
3. Remove the bolts that hold the water outlet in place. The thermostat will be under or inside it.
4. Remove the old thermostat.
5. Clean any sealant or rust away from both mating surfaces.
6. Place new thermostat with appropriate gasket in the housing. Use sealant as necessary.
7. Put the water outlet back on and tighten the bolts.
8. Replace any coolant that was spilled or refill the radiator.
9. Check for coolant leaks.
The crankshaft position sensor on a 1987 Chevrolet Celebrity is on the side of the engine nearest the firewall. I need to know which engine to give a more specific answer.
The water pump is on the front of the engine.
The horn is located in the engine compartment.
To install a thermostat on a 1987 Nissan 300ZX, remove the two nuts and one bolt on the lower water neck. Slip off the old thermostat and use a gasket sealant to secure the new thermostat.

It on the back of the coil packs going into the side of the block.
It is under the housing that the upper rad hose hooks to.
Put the proper key in the lock cylinder and unlock the door.
It is at the engine end of the upper radiator hose. Remove the hose and then the 2 bolts that hold the thermostat. Clean the surfaces and install the thermostat.
