maybe you weren't raising your mouse high enough. when i did this island i was able to get onto the globe (even though i don't think it's relevant) easily. make sure your mouse is reaching all the way to the top of the screen, maybe that will help. sorry if it doesn't work!

Hide behind the apple, then behind the mirror, which will reflect the shrink ray back at Silva.

When you are running from the shrink ray, you have to skip past either the grape juice or the books next to it, so that you have somewhere to hide when you are pushing the globe to the right. (Grape Juice is the closer one.)
