In the sand room in the Sphinx at Giza, there are four small statues and four switches. Each switch will drop the statue above it, and start to fill the room with sand. You have to pull all four switches before the sand covers them.
The switches have to be thrown in order, according to the number of dots on the small statues above them : first the statue with 1 dot (far right), then the one with 2 dots (left middle), then 3 dots (right middle), then 4 dots (far left).
If you succeed, the mummy case at the top reveals the Blue Jewel. If you fail, go down the hallway to the left to reset the room.

There is no statue ordering on Nabooti Island.To beat the Sand Room in the tomb at Giza, you pull the switches in the same order as the dots on the bellies of the small statues (one two three four). So you will be pulling the lever on the far right, the second from left, the third from left, and then the left switch. If the sand gets too high, there is a reset switch in the exit at the left of the room.To put the Jewels in the Nabooti statue: from top it is purple, green, red, white, and blue.
