The Map comes out in the afternoon of the day of it's release and not at 12:01 AM. For Escalation on Tuesday May 3 2011 for the Xbox 360. Expect the servers to be overloaded and the site very slow when released. The fastest download time will occur on non peak hours. For First Strike the release has already occurred and you can download any time for both the PS3 and Xbox 360.
Should you buy MW2 or black ops?
Why not buy them both and Start with the limited Edition of Black Ops with the free First Strike before it is sold out. PS3 and Xbox 360 are both under $50 at amazon. The MW2 has been sold on amazon for $30 or less although it is over $35 now

If the Nintendo Wii was going to get a DLC it would have been available this Spring.There is no information or reasonable expectation for the First Strike Map Pack to be released for the Nintendo Wii except a hope on the part of the Nintendo Wii Call of Duty Black Ops owners. Information was available ahead of time on the other previous First Strike releases from company financial documents at Activision and they went do far in the future to include the information on the MW3 release that is scheduled for November 9 2011 for the PS3 PC and Xbox 360.There are now 3 Xbox 360 released DLCs for Black Ops and not a single one released for the Nintendo Wii. First Strike and Escalation are both available for the PC PS3 and Xbox 360 and Annihilation was released on June 28 2011 for the Xbox 360 and is expected to become available for the PC and PS3/Actually,it was announced on JD_2020's twitter that the First Strike Map Pack will be available on April 10,2011 for the Wii Console. You can play first strike maps offline in both the split screen and XBOX Live -> Combat training lobbies. (Though for combat training, you'd still need to be online.)
