Unless your divorce settlement and/or child support agreement, specifically stated that the child was to be supported until their schooling (including college) was completed you're out of luck. The state only requires the child be supported until they become an adult or, graduate from high school.

They receive federal matching funds for child support enforcement, as to refusing to do so could affect getting that money.
You should go to college to get an education. If you go to college, you have a way better chance of getting a good job that can support you for the rest of your life.
It ends at 18 unless the other parent sought to prolong it because the child goes to college. That would be until he is 21. So as long as he is in college and below 21 you would have to pay if that was the case.
In Alabama, you are required to pay child support until a child reaches the age of majority, which is 19; however, a parent may be required to pay for such things as college expenses past the age of majority if these college expenses were requested prior to reaching the age of majority. If no such request was made, you are only required to pay child support until your children reach the age of 19.
Alabama does allow for spousal support, but that doesn't necessarily mean it will be awarded. It's awarded at the judge's discretion, and is decided based on the individual case.
