I have found that the more often a person washes their hair and the harsher the cleaning agent they use, the more likely it will be to have the opposite effect to what they strive for.
A quick washing with a mild shampoo (wash the scalp, not the hair) and a good long rinsing with cool (not hot) water is the best answer. A light non-oily conditioner (on the hair only not the scalp), can be used sparingly, if it is needed for its de-tangling properties.
If you can stand to do it, pick a weekend and don't wash your hair at all. you will start to reset the natural balance of your hair.
