you can keep the cage safe by keeping sharp objects out and away from the cage, keeping other breeds/younger hamsters out of the cage(unless the little ones are its babies and unless one type of breed lives in there.), putting safe food in(hamster food from pet stores, a tiny piece of fruit once in a while, yogurt drops, etc)
