How do you kill a spider When it's on the ground in Skyward sword?

Put a bomb down near it until the bomb explodes, this should flip the spider over which will let you do a Fatal Blow on it and kill it. Also if you don't have bombs wait for it to try jumping on you, immediately do a Shield Bash (shack the Nunchuk) to knock it on it's back and do a Fatal Blow to kill it.

∙ 10y agoSkulltulas, swing the sword from the bottom to the top to flip them on their back. Finish them off with a final strike by swinging the wii remote and nun-chuck upwards at the same time while targeting.

Okay, if by "Great Spider" you mean the Skulltula's, then here is how to defeat them.If they are on a web, there are several ways to defeat them.1) If the web is blocking your way, then cut a small hole in it and go through. Then turn around and shoot or stab (if you can reach it) the purple glowy center.2) If it is hanging from a thread, do not hit it with your sword! This only causes the spider to come swinging back at you. What you do is you cut the thread with your Beetle or Slingshot. Then the spider is on the ground. Go to #3 for spiders on the ground.3) If a spider is on the ground, you can easily kill them with your sword. Just swing your sword (Wii Remote) from the bottom-up in an upward slash to knock the spider on its back. Once this is done, quickly do a finishing blow on the purple center of the spider. Also, when they are on the ground, they will attack you. Close range attacks include biting and grabbing onto you. They also have a long range attack in which they shoot threads at you that stop you from moving. Then you should shake your Wii remote and get free before it can get to you.

If it's the monster that turns into a bomb forget about it, light the four post after you kill the spider. You don't have to kill them, they are there for you to use. If you get in a hit on the spider bomb it will pull its legs in and drop to the ground. You can then pick it up and use it like you would a regular bomb, as long as you are fast.
