well African Americans are descendants of African slaves in America 400 years ago plus African Americans really don't know what country in Africa they are from. There have been some famous African Americans that have done DNA test to see what country in Africa they come from. most of the time these African Americans have more then one country of ancestory. For example famous African American director spike lee found out he has cameroon and angolan ancestory, not to talk about tribe.Any way children of African immigrants know what country they are from and are not raised in the African American culture, community, and environment. they are raised in their parents culture and community, so those sre the people and environment they embrace. In essence African Americans and African immigrants(including children of African immigrants and second generations too) are not the same only by race. Most of these children have actually traveled outside of America and gone to their ethnic and parents country, so their experience and views of society are slightly different from African Americans(where 95% of them have never traveled outside their country or know about Africa except 15mins news snap shots of some countries in Africa like Sudan or rwnada, going through Aids, starvation, poverty; which in reality most African countries are not going through).So for example if children from African immigrnats are from countries like Kenya of nigeria. Those children of those immigrants will call them selves Nigerian American or kenyan American; or American born Nigerian or kenyan, or sometimes they just rep the country. Most of these children marry people from their own country and invest in these countries whether for business or building a house, and etc.this also applys to children of Caribbean immigrants
