The Special Mint Sets issued in 1965, 1966 and 1967 contained only the cent, the nickel, the dime, the quarter and the half dollar. There were no dollar coins being minted during those years so there are no Special Mint set dollars. Most of the coins in those sets had finer detail and greater luster than the regular business strikes. Many of them even have a "proof like" appearance. There were no special markings on these coins so if you have one that is not with the set, other than the better appearance of the coin there is no sure way to tell if it is from a Special Mint Set or not.
If you know it's a 1921 "S" Morgan you found the mint mark
Need to know if mint mark is on the front or back of coin
It is necessary to know the amount of wear and mint mark (if it has one) to be able to make an estimate of value. I would suggest you take your coin to a reliable dealer and have it appraised.
I'm not certain which coin you are wanting to know about. In 1889 there were no coins to my knowledge called "liberty dollar". However, there was a gold dollar minted that year which was minted in Philadelphia and therefore carries no mint mark. None were minted anywhere else. Also in 1889 there was a silver dollar minted called "Morgan Dollar" . The mint mark on this one is located below the wreath on the reverse side of the coin. These were minted in Carson City, Nevada and carried a "CC" mint mark: New Orleans, Louisiana and carried an "O" mint mark: San Francisco, California and carried an "S" mint mark: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and carried no mint mark at all.
Its a gold American $50 dollar coin if I am correct. It should tell you what year it was made and where it was made by the mint mark. S= San Fransisco D= Denver no mint mark= Philedalphia
Only 2 mints struck double eagles that year, Philadelphia (no mint mark) and San Francisco "S" mint mark. The mint mark for all Liberty Head double eagles is on the reverse of the coin under the eagles tail.
The values for this coin are the same regardless of mint mark.Circulated coins run from $600.00-$750.00 and uncirculated coins at $830.00+
do you know how much money a silver 1872 dollar coin is and a 1922 silver dollar coin
It's worth 5 cents, or 1/20th of a dollar. If it is a "collectible" coin, it may be worth more, but we'd have to know what year it was struck, what mint mark it has, and what condition it is in. And we'd need to know if it is in any way double struck, cracked die, or one of the other things that qualify the coin as a mint error, which will increase its value.
No circulated bicentennial dollars are rare. If it's a silver proof, it will weigh more than a regular Eisenhower dollar, and it will have the mint mark S.
In order to establish an estimated value for a coin it is necessary to know the country it was minted in, the date it was made and, if possible, the mint that produced it.
It's a silver dollar made at the San Francisco Mint during the Morgan series, issued 1878-1904 and in 1921, and named for their designer G. T. Morgan. To know its value please post a brand-new question with the coin's date, or enter the question "What is the value of a [date] US silver dollar?" in the box at the top of the page. [date] is of course your coin's specific year.
