This refers to an automatic transmission. My "96 has a transmission dipstick located to the rear of the engine, to the left (when facing the car from the front) of the brake fluid reservoir. To check it, park on level ground, start the engine and bring it to normal operating temp. Move the shift selector between all of the gears to be sure all are well lubricated. Check the fluid with the engine running. (being careful of any moving parts, of course) It should be within the indicated range. Too little will cause slippage or non-movement. Too much will cause foaming and loss of fluid. FriPilot
Your '96 might have a transmission dip stick (my '96 does) look near the firewall and down from the brake master cylinder. If not, stick your finger in the plug hole and see if you feel fluid. If you do, the level is good. If not, add some.
When changing the transmission fluid of any car, it is important to know how much fluid to put in. A 2001 Pontiac Sunfire takes 2.5-3 quarts of transmission fluid.
I need to know where the fuel pump is located and how to get to it on a 1996 Pontiac sunfire gt
If you have one, it's back near the firewall, just down from the brake master cylinder. You might not have one though. Pontiac did away with them early in the game. Why, I don't know. Seems kind of dumb to me ~
It's impossible to tell you, since we don't know which engine/transmission you have. Your parts store will be able to look it up in their computer for you.
i wnt to know how to dis-assemble a transmission in a 1996 chevy lumina
I really don't know!
as far as i know you cant check the transmission fluid on a 2000 Pontiac sunfire. It uses dexcool automatic transmission fluid and very rarley needs to be changed, i have a manual shift and it never has to be changed. Actually the only way that you can change it is by having it flushed the same way you flush a radiator, it has to be sucked out by a machine.
how do you know when thermostat is bad in 19997 Pontiac sunfire
read the stick ..if you are past the full line your over full
I have a 2001 pontiac sunfire, and at the time I could not find the transmission. The manual said to add four quarts, and I did.How will I know if the transmission is circulating.
