There are a couple of ways of finding this out. First is to check your motherboard manual.

If you no longer have the manual, you could open the side of your case up, and usually where the white pci slots are, its stamped in white the motherboard number. Ie Asus A7v. Then you can go to the manufacturers web site, and download the manual.

If you dont feel confident in opening up the case. Then you can download a program which will tell you the in's and out's of your pc. One in question is called Belarc Advisor.

On the top right hand corner of the screen, it tell you the motherboard manufacturer, and model number.

Again from here, go to the manufacturers website, and have a look around / download the manual.

Hope this helps

In windows, simply right-click on "my computer" and choose properties. The "system properties" window will be opened, and the first tab has your CPU type and speed listed in the lower-right corner.

Quickest way: Right-click "my computer" choose properties, CPU info will be listed in the first tab.

A little bit more detailed info can be found by running dxdiag, click start > run, then enter "dxdiag" in the box.

You can enter the BIOS menu (usually by pressing F2 or del during startup) and it should tell you.

Or, you can crack open the machine, pop off the heatsink & read it right off the chip itself. ------------ Above works for Windows XP and above. In Windows 2000 it will not give you a useful answer for processor type. You can still use DXDiag I think though. There are a number of freeware and shareware programs that can give you such info if you are using an older system. Alternately, you could try one of the various Linux Live CD's that are out there. Most will give you that info somewhere.

Right-click on "my computer" and choose properties. The first tab in the system properties window lists details such as CPU type and speed. This should tell you whether or not your system has dual-processors.
