What is the evidence that a magnetic field exists?

Magnetic fields exist because physics views the Universe as three space dimensions and one time dimension. Actually, the Universe is quaternionic and contains four space dimensions, one real dimension r and three vector dimensions ix+jy + kz. Magnetic fields are just the electric field divided by the speed of light c= E/B = r/t. This means B=E/c. Time is t=r/c.

Maxwell's Equations without magnetic fields are:

0=XE=(dEr/dr - Del.Ev) + (dEv/dr + Del Er)

where E=Er + Ev and Er is the real field and Ev is the vector field.

The magnetic field is dE/dr= dE/cdt=dB/dt. This shows that the "magnetic field" is important when there is a real variation of the electric field, dE/dr.

The electromagnetic fields are related by c and z:

E = cB = zH = zcD

Ever used a compass? Proof right there. The iron in the metal needle is drawn to magnetic north, the direction that the magnetic field flows in. Some day it will reverse, but that's another subject entirely.
