To work out the age of Harry or those in his year, add ten to the number of the book you are reading. For example, in the first book Harry is eleven in the second, twelve etc.
It should be noted that this method doesn't take month into consideration. To work out other characters ages or for exact information, you'd be best looking up the characters birthday.
As far as I know, the Harry Potter novels don't state the birthdays of most of the characters.
No characters, that we know of, had a wand made of Reed. However, there are many characters who wands we don't know about yet.
