Not sure what the manufacturer suggests, but I replace fuel filters every year just for good measure. A 5 dollar filter is a lot easier to replace than a 100 dollar internal fuel pump.
when it no longer works. If it ain't broke don't fix it.
in 92 caprice did not come with lt1 only corvette had lt1 in 92
It could be your fuel filter needs replaced or possibly your fuel pump itself is on its way out. I would try replacing the fuel filter first.
If your vehicle is leaking fumes, then your gas tank needs to be fixed.
More than likely, your cabin air filter has a leaf stuck in it or is really dirty and needs to be replaced.
Needs a good tune up?
because the diesel pump needs to prime it self before it will start
never needs to be replaced
Suggest replace every 15 to 30,000 miles. GM has been having a lot of fuel pump early failures.Keep the filter clean and you reduce the chance of overworking the pump. If you don't know when it was done, have it replaced and start from new.
when it needs to be replaced
It is hard to determine for one not seeing the vehicle. It may be the pan gasket or a rear main seal that needs to be replaced.
It has a permanent fuel filter mounted in the fuel tank, that never needs changing. It is replaced when the fuel pump is replaced.
