Cats who are ready to give birth will try to find a quiet place to have her litter and make a nest. She'll show this by searching and redecorating her nest. Some times the cat will be anxious. They can give birth when they are 59 days pregnant. Most commonly it will be on day 65. My advise: keep the cat indoors starting from day 59.
Signs that a dog has gone into laybour are:
Her temp will have dropped below 100 degrees
She will lose her appitite
She will begin to make a 'nest' (when she does this, put her in her whepling* box so that the puppies are not born on the sofa or anything.) by digging and scraching about with rugs and blankets
She will begin to pant
She will start having contractions and try to give the puppy.
*Whelping box is needed for the dog to give birth. Its a box with an entrance small enough for the mother to get in and out of but the puppies must stay in there. Fill it with blankets and make sure its warm, comfy and stable. Do not cram puppies in box which is not big enough because if the mother proseeds to get into the wheping box to whelp (nerse) her puppies, she could crush one of them, usally when this happens the puppy will yelp and the mother will quickly move but if the box is too small she may just move onto another puppy and soforth.
Usually the first sign is she will not eat. She will start to nest a couple of days before hand. The day of labor she can shake, pace around and refuse food for sure.
the dog will start breathing in and out loudly and they will poke there toungue like when they want a drink
Look for muscle spasms (contractions). Look for indications of pain. The temperature will drop around 99 to 100 degree Fahrenheit. Nesting behavior and maybe whining.
When a dog is finished giving birth, her activities will change. She will usually get up and eat or care for the puppies.
you will know when you see her relaxing and she stops panting, she will lay on her side n feed the pups..↲and if ur still not sure feel her tummy to see if there is any movement.
she will start to to breath heavily.
Female dogs often get diarrhea after giving birth. This is caused by the mother dog eating the placenta, and should subside in one to two days.
Any female dog that has had a litter (no matter if it's a pure bred dog or a mixed breed) should have a good physical by their vet. Just as women do after giving birth. It's important the female dog has nutrients to give the pups when they are nursing.
Yes my sister had sex with our dog and had a litter of puppies.
it is in 90-99F and most of the dogs have temp 98-99f and after 24 hours dog will get the pups and if no so call your vet or take the dog to the vet
Like humans, dogs have an after birth. After birth is the birth of the placenta. The placenta is what surronds the baby or in this case puppys during birth and protects them. It kind of looks like a mushy liver. If its not this then take your dog to the vet to be sure. =] Have fun with your puppies!
