Look on the reverse, between the "O" of the word "ONE" and the tip of the wing feathers. If there is a small "S" there, the coin was minted in San Francisco. If not, it was minted in Philadelphia.
You need to know the coin's date and mint mark. This design is normally called a Peace dollar because it was minted to honor the end of WWI. "Trvst" is NOT an error. See the Related Question.
In 1960 I bought a US 20 dollar gold coin that is encase in a gold frame to be worn as jewelry. This coin is 1924 and was minted in San Francisco I assume as it has an s by the date. I would like to know what is the value of this coin.
some random amount of money that nobody knows until they do know.
The lady is Miss Liberty, as in "Statue of ..." Two types of dollar coin were minted in 1921 so it's important to know which you have. There's more information at the Related Questions: if the coin has a spread-wing eagle on the back see the question about Morgan dollars. If it has the word PEACE under the eagle, see the question about Peace dollars.
Two kinds of silver dollars were made in 1921, a Morgan dollar & Peace dollar. The easy way to tell the difference is on the back of the Peace dollar is the word peace under the eagle so ask a new question when you know what one you have.
There are 2 One Dollar silver coins dated 1921 a Morgan Dollar that is very common and a Peace Dollar that is not so common. We need to know which on you have. A good way to tell the two apart is one the back of the Peace Dollar under the eagle is the word Peace.
For this series of coins, mintmarks are on the reverse just between the word ONE and the tip of the wing feathers on the left side of the coin. A coin with no mintmark was struck in Philadelphia, D=Denver & S=San Francisco
A Morgan silver dollar is a large dollar coin, on the front there should be a depiction of Lady Liberty's face wearing a small crown saying "LIBERTY" on it the reverse features an eagle with olive branches and arrows and a wreath at the bottom. They were dated 1878 to 1904 and also made in 1921. The only other coin that could be easily confused with a Morgan dollar is a Peace Dollar of which some were also minted in 1921, they have the same size, but the liberty on a Peace dollar looks like there are rays coming out of her head and the reverse of a Peace dollar has an eagle perched on a rock engraved PEACE.
I'm not certain which coin you are wanting to know about. In 1889 there were no coins to my knowledge called "liberty dollar". However, there was a gold dollar minted that year which was minted in Philadelphia and therefore carries no mint mark. None were minted anywhere else. Also in 1889 there was a silver dollar minted called "Morgan Dollar" . The mint mark on this one is located below the wreath on the reverse side of the coin. These were minted in Carson City, Nevada and carried a "CC" mint mark: New Orleans, Louisiana and carried an "O" mint mark: San Francisco, California and carried an "S" mint mark: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and carried no mint mark at all.
All Morgan dollars have the same reverse design, with only a few very minor variations. None were minted without the words ONE DOLLAR. It's possible you have a copy, replica, or counterfeit but it would have to be examined in person to know for sure.
I don't know whether you are trying to trick me but the US did not mint any Silver Dollars in 1911. The Morgan Dollar was not minted from 1905 through 1920.
Extremely unlikely. As I'm sure you know it's not gold, it's brass. Over a billion were minted so they're not scarce.
