Data that cannot be controlled is placed here on a graph?

It is customary to put it along a horizontal axis.

Is a axis used to plot or locate data?

True. An axis locates data.

Which variable would you put on the horizontal axis of a scatter plot of the data?

The horizontal axis, or "X" axis, is usually reserved for the variable you have no control over, such as the passing of time. This is called the independent variable.

What data goes on the x axis in science?

The independent data goes on the x-axis. The x-axis is the abscissa and the vertical y-axis is the ordinate.

Can the range be the data on the y axis or can the range be the amount of data on a graph?

The y-axis.

I am making continuous graph about gas i don't know what to put for y axis.. help please. i already put time in x axis..?

You need to tell us what it is about the gas that you are measuring. Time on x-axis is correct.

How you make graph in Microsoft office?

You need to use Excel. Put your data into an Excel spreadsheet. If you have both an X axis and a Y axis put each axis into a column (X should be first column, ideally), otherwise if you just have an Y axis put your data in a column and your X axis will be the row number. If you have an X axis you'll need to sort by it. To do this select all your data (not just 1 column or it will only sort that column!) Go to Data menu and select Sort. Sort by your X axis column, ascending. Go to Insert menu and select Chart. Choose XY (scatter) as your type. Select what kind of lines you want. Follow the wizard to create whatever axis labels you want, or if you don't need labels, just hit Next a lot. At the end of the wizard click Finish and your graph appears.

Why do you put label an x axis?

Because if you don't, how will people know what the explanatory variable is?

Where is the data collected placed on a graph?

on the vertical axis

What type of data must be plotted on a graph for the slope of the line to represent density?

Density is defined as mass/volume, and since slope is rise/run, with the rise being the y-axis and the run the x-axis, mass should be the y-axis and volume the x-axis. For example, you would put grams on the y-axis and ml on the x-axis.

If you wanted to make a line graph to graph the motion of an object what would you put what on the horizontal axis and what would you put on the vertical axis?

You put time on the horizontal axis and distance on the vertical axis.
