This is a hard one. I'm sure it has many answers. Or maybe one answer? I'm not sure if I've conjured the correct one, but this one is true to me right now: You learn to trust yourself with time. Accept the facts: that you are human, inextricably bound to err and cause problems for yourself. But I believe that everyone has a seed of good within themselves, and that goodness can overcome the inherent "badness" that is in each of us. Find that goodness within yourself; grasp onto it as if your life depended on it. Love others as much as you love yourself, serve those around you, use selflessness as your moral compass. ; A man who doesn't trust himself can never truly trust anyone else.

I am sorry that you went through that with your parents. He needs to earn his trust with you. But at the same time don't make him go through tests to prove that he is trustworthy. Trust comes with time, with knowing that person, who they are personally. Give yourself time, their is no need to rush through this. Trust comes in steps, and small steps lead to bigger steps and so on. One of the bigger things for you is to learn to trust yourself. That's not easy for alot of people including me.
