to start you will measure (in a powder measure) out about 90 grains of aproved muzzleloading propellent such as pyrodex, tripple 7 or black powder, then you will push a paper or cotton wad down the barrel over the powder and compress the charge, next pour your shot load try 1 oz first then you can try more or less but never try less then 7/8 oz or more than 1 3/8 oz of shot and another wad over the shot to keep it fron rollin back out the barrel when it is pointed at the ground. now you can push the percussion cap over the nipple, you will have to set the hammer to do this (pull the hammer back until it stops and holds itself) now your ready to shoot. never point the barrel at your self or annyone around you after you have loaded the gun, the percussion cap should never be placed over the nipple until you are ready to shoot, if the gun fails to fire, KEEP THE BARREL POINTED IN A SAFE DIRECTOIN NOT TOWARD THE AIR OR BIULDINGS OR PEOPLE! point the barrel at the ground if the gun does not fire for more than 30 seconds after you have pulled the trigger, reset the hammer and load another percussoin cap on the nipple and fire again if it fails to fire again repeat what i just said and dont try to fire it again remove the charge from the barrel and reload a new charge and try again if it fails to fire again take the gun to your gun smith the barrel or nipple may be coroded and unable to fire
