Watching what you eat is pretty easy. All you need to do is expend more calories than you eat. But having too much of a calorie deficit is not healthy so make sure that you do eat.

If you plan on exercising, then the amount of calories you will spend will go up. You should also make sure that you eat first thing in the morning, this will kick start your metabolism and you will be able to burn more calories in the day. You should avoid eating large meals and instead eat smaller portions and snacks throughout the day. Eat until your are not hungry, not until you are full. Protein will keep you satisfied longer than other things. Also, check food labels, you do not want to eat things that are high in fat/ trans fat and also avoid things with a high sodium content. Try snacking on fruits/veggies.

run. run as much as you can. don't go at a pace you can't keep up for about 20 minutes. if it means jogging slowly, then do it. the more often you do it the better you will get at it. the trick to losing belly fat is running/jogging followed immediately by situps or crunches. make sure your posture is good while you're running, that helps too if you're doing situps afterwards
