Acually, the Pokemon does not have to be female. I had a Ditto breed with my Infernape, who is male. Also, it can breed with some non-gender Pokemon, such as: Magnemite, Magneton, Voltorb, Electrode, Staryu, Starmie, Porygon, Porgon2, Shedinja, Lunatone, Sorlock, Baltoy, Claydol, Beldum, Metang, Metagross, Bronzor, Bronzong, Magnezone, Porygon-Z, Rotom, Phione, Manaphy, Klink, Klang, Klinklang, Cryogonal, Golett, Golurk.
