How do you make a bed?

Here are the steps to making your bed properly:

1. If you have a fitted sheet, stretch it out so that it fits smoothly over the mattress. If you don't have one, follow the instructions for the next steps but do all four corners instead of just the foot of the bed for your bottom sheet.
2. Spread the top sheet over the bottom one and get the sides even all around. Pull the sheet down towards the bottom of the bed until the ends hang below the bottom of the mattress - usually about halfway down the springs is far enough.
3. Tuck the extra sheet material under the mattress neatly - use your hands to smooth it out so that you have a nice, straight edge.
4. On each side of the bed, pull the corner of the sheet bottom upwards so that you have a little corner of sheet hanging down - tuck that under the side of the mattress, and when you let go of the sheet, you will have a "hospital corner."
5. On the head end of your bed, you can either fold the sheet back toward the foot so that you have the pillows exposed, or you can pull the sheets over the pillows and follow the next step with sheets plus covers.
   
6. Spread your blanket and/or coverlet over the sheets and pillows. Smooth out any wrinkles and even up the sides and bottom. Take your fingers and poke just enough covers beneath the pillows to make a nice, neat line where the edge of the pillows is.
