(The pop you hear when a bulb shatters is the air rushing in to fill the vacuum.) The filament will also burn out sooner (if not right away) because there is now oxygen getting to it, and making it burn hotter when the bulb is lit. The best thing to do? DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME. Or at all.
