Making a lanyard with 4 strings is just like making a lanyard with 2 strings, only you add one for each dimension. You can find videos on making a 4 string lanyard here: http://www.laneyards.com/2008/11/quad-stitch.html
I would advise you to look it up on www.you tube.com because it will show a video and be much easier to understand.
You start a four string lanyard by tying together four pieces of lanyard cord. You could also fold two pieces in half and knot them in the middle.

Start the lanyard with a lanyard hook and cross over your two strings. Keep weaving by making two loops (doing this by flipping two strings of the same color over to the opposite side) then take the other two strings and make them skip over the first loop (from their "perspective") and then through the second loop (also from their "perspective") until you want to end it and tie it A lanyard string is a flat string that you can weave to make designs. The process, while relatively simple, can be used to create quite complex patterns and designs. The best way to learn is to find someone to teach you. Often Scouts and Boatswain Mates know how to do it.
Scoubidou is another word for lanyard or boondoggle. When you make a scoubidou you are simply weaving thin strings together. These strings are available at Joann's Fabrics and Michael's Crafts
