MAKES 1 STUD:

Buy 2 REALLY small (but strong) magnets. You might be able to find them at your local craft store. Attach a rhinestone or gemstone to one face of one magnet. Place the opposite side of the rhinestone on the front of your earlobe. Place the north side of the other magnet on the back of your earlobe if the south side touches the front of the lobe, or vise versa. Make sure both magnets stick to your ear. Otherwise, flip the magnet on the back of your earlobe over.

MAKES 1 DROP OR CHANDELIER:

Buy the VERY SMALLEST MAGNETS you can find, and some piercing earrings of the type you want. Cut the hook (that goes through a piercing) off, leaving about 3 mm for metric, just under 1/4 inch imperial of wire from the bottom of the hook (the straight part attached to the jewelry) attached to the jewelry part. Attach a magnet to this small wire piece (the wire still attached, not the stuff you just cut off). You may want to paint the magnet and wire after attachment to hide any showing glue. Place the other magnet on the back of the lobe to stick the chandelier or drop (which is placed on the front of the lobe) to the ear.

MAKES 2 HOOPS:

Buy the VERY SMALLEST SPHERICAL magnets you can find. Also buy some hoop earrings, unless you want to make your own out of a single piece of wire bent into a loop (and painted if desired). Making your own hoops makes for easier assembly. If you buy pre-made earrings, cut them so that they are only full hoops with no extra wire. If you make your own hoops, great.
Now, whether you're using bought or made hoops, bend the very tips up, right where the hoops' wire separates, to make it so they can be bent into a line rather than permanently welded into a circle. Attach a magnet to these bent up tips on the inside so they stick instead of repel. Spread the magnets apart, then put them on opposite sides of your earlobes. Press the magnets up against your earlobes so they stick to them and you are done!

NOW YOU CAN MAKE YOUR OWN MAGNETIC EARRINGS!! ;-]

You can buy the fasteners, or hooks for pierced ears, at a craft shop. They'll also carry beads and other ornaments, and there are craft shops which specialize almost entirely in jewellery-making. If you don't have one of these in your area, there are also internet retail outlets. Once you have the hook, or clip, there are many ornaments you can use other than jewellery. I've seen beautiful earrings made by simply stitching lengths of lace - the sort you might use to trim lingerie and other clothing - into a circle, a sort of rosette, and maybe finishing with a bead or tiny fabric flower in the centre. One of the most effective outfits I've seen was a flowing, black silk dress teamed with black lace dangly earrings and a cluster of tiny gold beads in their centres; it was stunning, just with a simple gold chain. I've also seen dried leaves, shells (take care making a hole in the shell, do it slowly and with a good sharp tool) and, of course, feathers, used to great effect. Of course, you can easily buy a length of chain in similar metal to the earring fasteners, and with appropriate fittings, to make matching necklaces, or hairclips and combs (barettes) to make matching hair ornaments, shoe clips, handbag accessories, buttonholes and so on. Just stick to around two different versions, otherwise you'll end up looking like a Christmas tree! And speaking of Christmas trees, I've used white lace rosettes on earring hooks to decorate the tree; it's very effective. Once you get the hang of it you're limited only by your imagination! I know a woman with long-haired black dogs who's made earrings from carefully-trimmed long clippings from their silky coats, just brushing her shoulders. Amazingly effective, and quite a conversation piece. Not too many people know it's dog hair.

You can magnetize a nail four ways.

No1. Get the nail and wrap some Insulated copper wire around it. You can use some other wires but it might not work as well. Make sure the wire isn't too thick. Wrap the wire 50+ times. Connect the two ends of the wire to a battery. Don't connect it to a strong power source as it will get very hot very quickly. Now the iron rod now has become a weak permanent magnet. The more current you add to it the more stronger it will be and the longer you expose the nail to the electricity on the stronger it will be.. Also, don't drop it as it will lose it's magnetic properties.

No2. Get a magnet. The stronger the better. Rub the magnet up nail then when you get to the end take the magnet off the metal and take it back to the start making sure the magnet doesn't touch the metal. I don't really like this method as it takes a long time to get the metal to pick up anything decent.

No3. Get a magnet and let it stick to one end of the nail. The nail will be weak but enough to make the needle on a compass move.

(Don't ruin a compass. Mine point south-west and it shouldn't do that...)

No4.If the nail is made up of iron, Simply Rub the nail with a permanent magnet

If the nail is made up of Steel,

take some insulated wire-the kind we use at home and wrap it around the nail like a coil.Connect the ends of the wire to a say 1.5 volt pencil battery leave it like that for some time. The nail will eventually become a permanent magnet

Here's the explanation

1.When the nail is rubbed with the magnet the electrons in it arrange themselves in a particular direction imaparting the nail magnetic properties

2.When current is passed around the steel nail the electrons arrange themselves according to the direction of flow of current at its ends-Clockwise stands for south pole and anticlockwise stands for north pole.Hence the nail gets magnetised
