There is more than one way to do it but this is what I suggest. Download format factory from using either the CNET link or direct download, whichever you prefer, from the link provided. Once installed, under the video section select the avi format and then the output setting from the pop-up window. With a list of options click on the video encode and select MJPEG. Customize other settings to your liking and then click OK, OK, and then START to convert your file.
file extension
AVI stands from- Audio Video Interleaved. This Is Extension Of Video File supported by video player such as vlc, window media etc
To find out what the video file name extension (format) is, right-click the file and choose Properties from the drop-down menu. The video output format is the file name extension (format) you wish to convert the file to. For example, if you wish to convert a .mpg to a .avi you would choose .avi as the 'Output Source Format' in the converter program. The Output Path is the saving destination of the file, so it does not matter what file name extension (format) the file is in.
dat extension is a Video CD extension video which when copy into computer cannot be open by so many video editing software like premier pro, vegas, etc but the only way to do this is to convert the file with video converter programs into an AVI extension. AVI extension can be open in any video programs. so i recommend total video converter to do this. for more info mail chuksman2000@yahoo.com
You will need a video converter to convert the .mp6 file into an .avi. Free video converters are available online. Google: free video converters and download one.

Yes. If your DVD Player supports DIVX media file types, then it can also play MP4 files too.
You need a video file converter to open AVI files in Windows Movie Maker (and some other applications).Video converters are available online. Simply Google: free video converters. Once you have downloaded one, you can convert the AVI to any file name extension(format) you like.
Rename the file and just put .AVI at the end of the file name where the vep file name used to be.
I had the same problem and played around with the file. I found that FOV is not an eztension and I renamed the downladed file with an AVI extension and voila
divx player can open that extension, or download ultra mpeg converter to convert the flv file into a more common mpeg, mpg, mp4, avi, etc etc
H264 and AVI are two different concepts entirely, and thus can not be compared to each other. AVI is a "container", which describes only how to lay out the contents of the file, while H264 is a "codec", which describes how the video is compressed and decompressed. You could consider AVI to be a shipping container, and H264 the contents of the shipping container. Other containers include FLV and MKV. Other codecs include FFV1, H261, H262, H263, MPEG4, MJPEG, and WMV. Check Wikipedia for a comparison of common codecs. It should be noted that a file size comparison is a poor way of determining algorithm efficiency. Many codecs can be configured to provide lower quality (up to completely unwatchable) to reduce file size; to compare them fairly, make sure you're comparing each codec at the same resolution and quality.
