How much does it cost you for a cylinder head gasket replacement?

Depends on who performs the repair, what make, model, and engine size, and if there was no damage to the head or not.

How do you replace the cylinder head gasket on a 2000 vw jetta 1.8 turbo?

to replace the cylinder head you should get a chiltons book for your year make and model of your vehicle. If you have never replaced a head gasket before you should take care to make sure the timing on the camshaft and crankshaft are set to top dead center before removing the cylinder head because most volkswagons have an interferance engine which means the cam and crank must be timed properly or could cause cylinder valve damage. Take cylinder head to a machine shop and have them check the cylinder head for warpage with a straight edge after you have cleaned off the gasket and any material on the head. If cylinder head needs resurfacing, make sure the machine shop does this. Follow directions carefully to retorque the head down (if needed replace head bolts if they are torque to yield bolts). Make sure you repair the problem that caused the cylinder head gasket to leak. This problem could be anything from a leak to bad thermostat, or even a bad water pump. When i replace a head gasket I always replace the water pump and thermostat and flush the radiator, heater core and change the oil twice before driving. Most newer volkswagon vehicles have an air bleed procedure to get the air out of the cooland and to condition vehicle for proper coolant flow. check procedures and follow exaclty.

What would make antifreeze blow into your exhaust pipe?

Are you getting white smoke from the exhaust even with the engine warmed up ? If so , you are getting engine coolant into an engine cylinder from a bad head gasket , a warped or cracked cylinder head

Does low compression and engine won't start mean a blown head gasket on a car that overheated?

If it was a head gasket then the compresion would be low in the affected cylinders low compresion as a result of wear wil make the car hard to start and overheating can also lead to electrical problems, Besides blowing a head gasket, overheating can also cause a cylinder head ro crack. Low compression and engine not starting or hard to start are symptoms. As mentioned above, do not discard the possibility of electrical problems due to overheating. However, the prime suspects are blown head gasket and/or cracked cylinder head.

Why must the new head gasket be checked against the old head gasket?

To make sure it is a match and therefore the correct gasket for the engine.

Your 96 cr 125 keeps blowing head gaskets?

When installing the cr 125 head gaskets, make sure to check the surfaces for any old gasket materials or scratches. Check the head to make sure that it isn't warped. Make sure that the cylinder pressure isn't too high. Tighten the head bolts in the proper sequence and at the proper torque, and the gasket should stop blowing.

Do they make additives to fix a blown head gasket?

No additive is going to help - you need to get your head gasket replaced.

Would a leaking cylinder head gasket make a car blow blue smoke and would the smoke be continuous?

Yes, but so would really worn valve stems or guides. Either case, you gotta take the head(s) off, then do both! Head gasket(s) and a valve job.

How do you fix antifreeze leak in a head gasket leak?

Remove the cylinder head and all other parts and replace the head gasket after the machined surfaces of the head and block are evaluated for trueness. If the head is warped, have the cylinder head milled at a machine shop or the gasket will fail again. Should cost $400- $600. Some will say they have a magic solution called silicon carbonate or water glass that can be added to a flushed cooling system with plain water. there is a chemical reaction that can make the gasket seal for a limited time. In less than half of the cases it does work for a few months but you are on borrowed time. This is not a permanent fix.

Could you make an auto gasket?

sure you can pretty much make most of them except for the head gasket
