The best way to make it faster is to take the engine out of it and replace it with a 125 or 250. Or for a simplier fix, get it going top speed and jump it off a cliff. Gravity will take over and it should exceed its top speed when/if it reaches terminal velocity. I believe gravity is calculated at 11ft/sec squared.
There are several ways to make a Yamaha TTR 250 faster. One way is to bore out the cylinder creating more cubic centimeters. Another is to have straight through exhaust.
Try putting taller tires on it, then it will go faster. There is also a power kit available for the 250 Recon.
