The simple way to do this as a child was to create a paper spring by folding a strip of paper much the same as folding a fan. (once forward, then back on itself and continue). Then pasting it on the back of whatever you want to pop out and sticking the other end to the surface you want it to come out of. Another way to do this if you simply want the object to be raised is to layer with small cardboard pieces or thick paper. Another way to create a "spring-ing" or "bouncing" effect can be to wrap craft wire around a pencil to create a small spring and pasting the ends to the object and surface.
