Normally you would buy it. Craft shops sell various types of clay. Alternativly if you live in the right area you can dig it out the ground. However this clay usually needs to be prepared by drying, crushing, sieving, reducing to slip and partial drying on a plater batt before it is ready to mould.
Clay is used to make potuary. play-do is like clay, but for children.

No there not modeling clay is the one you find in primary schools and play groups because its easy to use and is usually precoloured and dries out. great for children because it doesnt make much mess but your limeted to what sort of thing you can make. sculpting clay is heaver and usually murky colours it needs to be fired to make it hard but you can do much more with it
