To make a bolt, you need some Feathers and some Bolts (unf). Feathers can be bought from any Fishing Shop (such as the ones in Port Sarim or Catherby), or obtained from Chickens. Bolts (Unf) are made by smithing a metal bar on an anvil into bolts. Simply use the Feathers on the Bolts (Unf) to make some complete Bolts for use with a Crossbow.

String is a very general term and can refer to bow string, crossbow string, and/or magic string. Bow strings are used in RuneScape to make bows or crossbows in RuneScape with the appropriate Fletching skill and magic string is used in RuneScape to create Nature Amulets with the Crafting skill with the appropriate level required.
First cut a log into an unstrung bow, then use flax on a spinning wheel to make bow string, then use the bow string on the unstrung bow to make a finished bow. You will require a higher fletching level to make better bows.

Take any high test kind of string and tie a non slip loop knot on either end. Make sure the string is short enough to stay tight on the bow, but not to tight. If the bow is home-made, unstring it when not in use. When i made a bow i just used some string and it hasn't failed me yet.
you can make string with it to put on your unstrung symbols or your amulets.
