Answer from the World of Alchemy:

In the British Science Museum there is a section on Alchemy and I personally saw a 3 inch knife blade there, half gold and half steel. As if it had been dipped into something. There was no explaination of how it was done. They didn't say it was hoax. This is something from the world of Alchemy that anyone can observe and make conclusions about and speculations about.

I think 'modern' Chemists and Physicists deny all human facts and contributions to Knowledge before Dalton and Newton. What modern Chemist has made more contibutions to the subject called, at that time, 'Natural Philosophy', than Peracelsus? Saint Germain is said to have given many, many diamonds to people over a period of hundreds of years. What is that all about? It is not a part of modern of science to deny observations and observable facts, like the gold and steel knife in London, but in fact it is done every day in every lab on Earth. What person so trained ever avoids the opportunity to make less of such speculations? For that matter, who formulated the basic postulates used by Science? Maybe it was Francis Bacon. Alchemy had a spiritual Goal, the elevation or refining of the nature of man. The Transmutation of Man. 'Making Gold by Alchemy' is a perverted idea in the context of a modern science that has no soul, like a four-letter-word. It was a minor concern for any Alchemist that was worth their salt. Modern Science has no such spiritual goal for Chemistry or Physics and arbitrarily denies the existence of the spirit or the soul or God. It denies categorically or ignores all observations concerning and all speculations relating to such subjects. Modern Science has Transmuted a World of Spiritual values and Ideals into a Material World with NO values and ideals, in 100% agreement with the concept of a 'god' called 'Conservation of Matter and Energy.' Who created all this matter and energy? I don't think it was 'transmuted' neutron bombardment. Modern science encourages you to NOT spectulate about that. Is ultimate destruction of matter and energy possible? Don't speculate. That is one message.

So how might an 'Alchemist' do it do it in the World of Alchemy? Let's assume that one could have the spiritual viewpoint of 'Cause', instead of 'Conserve only'. That such a viewpoint could have the unmitigated audacity to say something like in The Bible. "'Let there be light!' and there was light." What if such a causative being looked at the void, and said first, 'Let there be Space!' and there is such a space of his very own, just as he intended. Say we hold our two hands apart about two feet and in our imaginations we do such an outlandish, unthinkable thing. We say that we are going to create a space, that is our very own space, not physical universe space, between our hands. Just do it. Then in your 'own space' intend there is a 3-inch knife blade, steel on one end, gold on the other like it had been dipped in a magic liquid. With such an intention at the exact same instant, you say with full confidence, ''Let there be...a knife blade.' In your imagination you should be able to do this easily, unless you are a modern science 'true-believer'. I'm not saying a knife will instantly materialize in the world of modern science, just in your imagination. Now you explain back to me, using the ideas of 'Cause', 'intention', spiritual being, and your ability to make decisions, How might an Alchemist like Paracelsus or Saint Germain, do one for the British Science Museum that is observable to you and I, and the world of modern science?

Answer from Modern Science:

Alchemists never succeeded in creating gold. Their basic theories were severely flawed. Today, chemists have a much better understanding of what gold is and how it is made. We do know how to change one element into another, by neutron bombardment in a particle accelerator, although this is very expensive to do and therefore it is not profitable to make gold in that manner.
