Chips (or french fries as they are called in the US) are made at restaurants in a deep fryer that cooks them very quickly at very high temperature. It is hard to achieve this at home without a deep fryer.

Clancy (Aldi) has discontinued their Hot'n'Spicy potato chips.
I'd like to find a mixture of powdered spices that I could sprinkle on a plain potato chip and give them a flavor as close as possible to Clancy's Hot'n'Spicy.
I've tried using Cayenne pepper by itself, and in combination with Jalapeno powder (made from my home grown Jalapenos). Neither one (nor the combination) works.
Maybe I'll try adding some garlic or onion powder, even though I don't recall a taste of onion or garlic powder in the chips. Maybe I need to find a spicier hot red pepper powder, or maybe I need something like powdered tomato?
(It's been a year or so since I had the chips, so I'm having trouble remembering exactly what they taste like. They were the best potato chips I ever tasted, and, to the best of my recollection, had no added sugar.)
