Most modifications will have a description of how to put the file into Halo, but some don't I'll give you the instructions.
1) Download mod file
2) While downloading, minimize and go to 'My Computer'
3) Click on Local Drive C:
4) Program files
5) Halo Trial
6) Maps
7) Keep that window open and when download completes, drag MAP File with mod into bloodgulch.MAP on other window and extract all
8) Open up Halo
9) TaDa

They never released a second Halo 1 and Halo: Combat Evolved is Halo 1. My source is Wikipedia; type in Halo 1, it will come up with Halo: Combat Evolved.
