You can't "mate" them, but if there is a female and a male together in the same terrarium, when the time is right, the male will squeeze the females belly(He will be on top) and cause the eggs to come out of the female, as he does this, he releases sperm in order to fertilize the eggs.

basically firebelly toads eat crickets... and enjoy the water! their tummies are red and black and slimey!!! i would recommend a firebelly toad as a pet! they turn green from season to season. Really cool!

From what I have learned, there are two ways to tell the difference between a male and female fire bellied toad. The first is the male toad " barks ". Usually it is to the female. The next is if you look at the toads fore arms, the male should have bigger forearms than the female. On the male, it will look as if he has big muscles on his forearms.
